You Can Get Rid of Your Fax Machine
Mark Bassingthwaighte, Esq.
February 20, 2009

I think there are two reasons why so many continue to rely on fax machines. One is a misconception that you need a fax machine to send and receive faxes to and from others who have fax machines themselves. This simply isn’t true. An Internet fax service is one solution that will allow you to bridge the gap between older fax technology and your current digital work environment. By using an Internet fax service you can convert incoming faxes into digital files that automatically arrive in your email inbox. By the same token, you can send attachments like Word documents and PDF files back out and they will be converted to a facsimile transmission that can be received on a standard fax machine. Goodbye dedicated fax line, phone charges, paper, toner, you get the idea.

The second reason is with the frustration that can come in trying to determine which Internet fax service provider would be best suited to meet your business needs. Few of us relish the idea of spending hours researching things like what is the best flat screen TV or which digital camera takes the best pictures. It isn’t any different here. Interestingly enough, I came across a website recently where the research homework has been done for you and now apple to apple comparisons of Internet fax services are just one click away. If you have any desire at all to finally get that clunky old fax machine out of the office, I invite you to visit FaxCompare.com and investigate the options.

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
Mark Bassingthwaighte, Esq.
As a risk consultant, I have had numerous opportunities to ask attorneys who have been sued for malpractice, “What did you learn from the experience?” One response that continues to come up has been, “There is a bit of truth in the old saying that no good deed goes unpunished.” While the stories behind such a response vary, there are common insights that I feel are worth passing along.
